Can not changing the anti-freeze often make your water pump fail?

I've heard that it can't, it's more of a bearing failure.
Can not changing the anti-freeze often make your water pump fail?
Anti-freeze is the most misunderstood thing that is put into an automobile. Anti-freeze is not only to keep your auto from freezing in the winter, but to keep it from boiling over in the summer. It also keeps the bearing in the water pump lubricated and helps corrosion to a minimum in you radiator and your water pump. If you add a 50/50 mixture of anti freeze to your over flow bottle ever time you are low you will not have any problems. Auto Parts Manager 9 1/2 years.

not usually water pumps only pump water %26amp; don't know the difference. age could have done it if didn't freeze
As the anti-freeze ages it starts to break down and not do the job of preventing freezing and overheating.

If you change and back flush yearly you should not have any problems for years; but skipping a year now and then is enough to cause problems.

My truck is 18 years old and in the past i have neglected the antifreeze a few times and it has cost me two radiators and a water pump. I tend to think that radiators are thinner than they used to be because of the cost of copper.

Many are partially made with plastic and I don't think they last as long.
Keep in mind that anti-freeze is a corrosive. Over time if the nowcools, or DCA levels are not maintained in the coolant,, depending on age of the vehicle,, the coolant can brake down the pump fins and thin them.In turn it will deminish coolant flow and circulation. iVE SEEN IT ON VEHICLES OVER 15 YEARS OLD.
