What do you do when you break a stud off in your block when changing your water pump on a 89 lincon mark 7?

its the long stud that also holds the ac bracket on i think it goes all the way to the head|||pull water pump off. use 5/16th drill bit. drill into broken stud. use easy out. back out old stud. replace old stud with new stud. then try to re-install pump. you can find drill bit and easy out at a auto parts store near you.|||cry cuss and start over|||You use a tap and die. You are probably better off taking this to a mechanic and watching him or her do it. This is not one of those do-it-yourself jobs if you are not familiar with it.|||Maybe you can hold the bracket another way and not have to drill the stud out. The car is old, so try to make due without drilling out the stud and retapping the hole.|||man . if a tap and die dont work you need to drill it out, good luck|||This depends on how much of the stud is still out. If enough of the stud is out I would use a small pipe wrench to carefully turn it while applying heat to the head. if it is broke off flush then u will have to drill and extract it ..
