Hubby is trying to change the water pump on our GMC Jimmy. He cannot get the fan off to access the water pump. What is the trick here? He%26#039;s trying to do more of the maintenance on our cars to save $$$$ --but it sure is a bear!|||First look at the new water pump, you will notice the threads are either left or right hand threaded. Once you have determined the thread direction, you will know in what direction to remove the fan. Take a large drift punch and place it on the high side of the fastening bolt. strike it with a hammer and the jolt will loosen the grip of the bolt and allow you to remove it. This may take several tries, but it does work, I have used the process numerous times.|||try turning bolts backwards or a sharp tap on wench

you can find most car repairs this way as well more likely just tight and needs a good wack some are left hand turn hold blade of fan or dont remove belt first might help|||If it is a mechanical fan remove the bolts and he may have to TAP on it. at the base where the bolts come out.If its electric just nuts,bolts, screws or clips will hold it in place If he cant get it after this email me and ill ask my son if he knows he had the some truck for 6 years he may know ill try to check my email often .
