Theres a paper in the box with the water pump and it states by changing the water pump u can affect your timi?

on specific types of cars the waterpump is driven by the timing belt. I would have to know the vehicle before correctly answering that ?

If the engine is like most Japanese engines, being that the waterpump is driven from the timing belt/gears, then YES, changing the pump could in fact change the timing IF you didn't put it back together correctly. If it's external though, like the typical American engine, then it won't.
now how could changing the water pump change the timing?, i mean your not even fooling with the timing. the dist. is down through the intake and the timing chain is inside the timing cover. i changed the water pump on my car and it didnt change my timing at all.
